A look back at Intertraffic Amsterdam

From 10 to 13 March, 11 of our colleagues took turns throughout the week to attend Intertraffic at the RAI in Amsterdam. With our own stand and a presence at
the Connect Pavilion, we had a strong showing right at the heart of the mobility sector. It was a busy but enjoyable week, and we are now reaping the rewards.

Sharing knowledge, further positioning our services and engaging in dialogue with national and international partners

This has yielded significant results. We have established new international connections, held valuable discussions and taken concrete steps towards new projects. A key moment was the signing of the contract with Krisjanis Viduss of Lucidus SIA, our new agent for the Baltic states. This will enable us to support public authorities in Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania with our services in the field of traffic management and navigation data.

In addition to the discussions at the stand, there was also a packed programme.

Throughout the exhibition, Jurgen spent almost the entire week at the Connect Pavilion, where he held in-depth discussions with road authorities and various international delegations. And when he wasn’t there, he could be found elsewhere at the exhibition sharing his story about TripService.

For example, he took part in “Smart moves: how the Netherlands orchestrates the mobility ecosystem”, in which he demonstrated how various parties in the Netherlands are working together to organise mobility in a smarter and more efficient way.

And at ITS.Nationals, he gave a presentation on our latest innovation, ‘Route Lab‘. In it, he explored in greater depth how we provide insight into the expected behaviour of navigation systems even before roadworks begin. By simulating road closures, diversions and temporary measures in advance, we can show which route recommendations will be provided and how traffic is likely to spread across the network.

This ensures greater predictability, provides a better basis for traffic measures and helps to prevent disruption and unsafe situations. In this way, road authorities can manage traffic flow and quality of life more effectively, even before the first road closure is put in place.

Peter was also a key figure this week!

During the conference, he gave a talk entitled “Who guides the road user? The road authority or the navigation app?”, in which he explored the evolving relationship between road authorities and navigation platforms. He demonstrated that, in practice, navigation apps often take the lead in route selection, even though the information they use is not always complete or up to date.

This challenge was also a central theme in his presentations at ITS.Nationals. There, he gave two talks – on Map Updates and Online Traffic Management – in which he demonstrated how we, as road authorities, can regain control. By actively sharing data and collaborating with navigation platforms such as Waze, Google Maps, TomTom and Apple Maps, we ensure that route advice is better aligned with the actual traffic situation.

He also discussed how Online Traffic Management supports the entire chain: from targeted communication in advance, to real-time adjustments during works, and data-driven evaluation afterwards. This not only provides greater control over traffic flows, but also insight into reach, impact and user experience.

In his contribution to the FOCUSNL programme, he concluded by emphasising that the key lies in collaboration and data exchange. It is not the navigation system or the road authority that guides the road user, but rather the combination of both, provided the right information is shared at the right time.

We can look back on a very successful edition of Intertraffic.

This confirms to us that the demand for real-time, data-driven traffic information continues to grow, both nationally and internationally. It is precisely by working together with partners and public authorities that we can really make a difference in this area.

Will we see you at a trade fair this year? We’ll be attending various events and would love to discuss the challenges and opportunities within mobility with you.
