A safe working environment starts with visibility. That idea sparked our collaboration with Fleets‑Online and Van Doorn. By combining smart technology with real-time vehicle data, we’re able to highlight risky situations to road users more quickly. This initiative directly contributes to improving both road safety and traffic flow.
The collaboration took shape when Van Doorn, represented by Kees-Arie Visser, increasingly received reports of dangerous situations near their road closures. Employees were working along the roadside while drivers were often unaware of the temporary traffic situation. That led to unsafe working conditions. Concerned about this issue, Van Doorn and Fleets‑Online teamed up to find a solution. Our shared ambition to proactively contribute to road safety quickly aligned our goals.
Fleets‑Online, led by director Kees van Kooten, developed a smart platform that provides real-time insights into vehicle location and status. As soon as a static vehicle (such as a crash absorber or arrow trailer) becomes active, Rik Schigt and Wouter Giessen from TripService automatically receive a notification. We ensure that this information is processed immediately and shared with navigation systems. As a result, road users are informed in time and can adjust their route or behavior before entering a risk zone.
Thanks to this smart collaboration, up-to-date traffic information reaches the right people faster. Fewer surprises on the road means fewer risks for both road users and road workers. And that’s exactly what we at TripService work towards every day.
