During the period of strict coronavirus restrictions, many people turned to forests for distraction. Although generally a safe choice, it is not so much so if there are too many hikers there at the same time. Notifications in the Waze navigation app can help regulate the traffic in the forests of the southern part of the Netherlands. If it gets too busy somewhere, road users receive a notification. The notification appears when they are planning their route or upon arrival at one of the forests. When they tap on it, users can see the message at the bottom right of the screen. When the road user taps on ‘answers’, the whole text appears.
